come celebrate our birthday!

I don't know what happened to Wonton. He hasn't updated his blog for months! But he came down to the Loftydog Academy on our birthday last Thursday to hang out. He needs to come play more often! Don't tell him I said anything, but he's getting a little chunky.

Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know that we're having a birthday party tomorrow and you're invited!

getting ready for a big night

I'm so excited, tonight is Yappy Hour at The LoftyDog. Actually, I'm here right now getting groomed. I have to say, I was pretty filthy. I like to put in the extra effort to look sharp for the bitches, as well as for myself (yes, I'm a little vain, what about it?). But with the recent rains, I let myself go. With me growing my hair a little longer for the winter (it gets cold in my loft) and being height-challenged, my twice-daily walks through the streets of Downtown Los Angeles means it's really difficult for me to stay clean.

Last night I went on the Downtown Dog Walk (Dodger hasn't updated the blog because Ken was out of the country, so check back later). I had a great time and met a lot of new downtown dogs. I even tried to jump in a few of the pools, but Jim stopped me. But I'm a little embarrassed because I threw up twice at Maguire Gardens. I think they spray something on the grass there that isn't good for dogs because I throw up every time we go there. I think we may have to find a new grassy area for our dog walks. Anyway, back to me - I threw up in front of everybody! I was so tired when I got home, I just curled up and went straight to bed. The woman who takes care of me kept checking up on me, looking all worried. But I'm all better now and eager to romp tonight. Hope to see you out Artwalking or at Yappy Hour!

downtown dog walk tonight!

100_2943

I've been resting up all day so I'll be full of pep for tonight's Downtown Dog Walk. If you haven't been, we meet at Pershing Square at 6pm, sniff everybody and get to know each other a little bit, then all us dogs walk somewhere downtown. Usually we walk to a grassy area, but at last month's dogwalk we walked to Nokia Plaza. They didn't let us in to the Bjork concert and there wasn't any grass, but it was a fun walk just the same. I'm not sure where we're walking to tonight, but I hope we go to the South Lawn of City Hall. There's lots of gras there, trees to pee on, and a big grassy hill that I like to run up and down.

If you're a downtown dog, I hope to sniff you at the walk tonight!

me and riley

I was out walking the other day when I ran into my friend Riley at Banquette. I stayed a little longer than I planned, but I have so much fun with my favorite Akita that I just said, "Ah, screw my packed schedule, I'm going to play!"

Yeah, he's a lot bigger than me. But he's very gentle, he knows just how much is too much.

I felt great when we left Riley and continued up 4th Street, but we got to Spring Street and all of a sudden I was exhausted! Thankfully the woman who takes care of me carried me the rest of the way home. It was a good time running into Riley like that, but I wish Downtown Los Angeles had a dog park. Then we wouldn't have to play on the sidewalk.

my new year's resolutions

This being my first New Year (I'm only 8 months old, almost 9!), I thought I'd make some resolutions. Nothing lame, don't worry I'm not going to try to lose weight, exercise more, quit smoking, stop frequenting strip clubs, stop procrastinating, or get out of debt. Besides, how fun is it to read about a dog trying to quit snacking and lapdances?

Here are my resolutions for 2008:

1. Exercise less, blog more.
2. Make more friends, hump more legs.
3. Find new and interesting things to chew on, in and outside of my loft.
4. Mark more lamposts and street signs while walking around downtown. (It's a big city and that fire hydrant isn't going to pee on itself!)
5. Help Dodger and Ken organize downtown dogs (and their owners) to get a Downtown Dog Park.
6. Get on blogdowntown's blog roll and (finally) be recognized as part of the 3bn.

If you haven't already, I suggest jettisoning the standard resolutions and set some resolutions that are fun and easy to stick to. Come on, let's make 2008 a fun year.

another night out for a downtown strike dog

I haven't been blogging much because I've been so tired lately. In addition to my twice-daily walks around downtown Los Angeles, in solidarity with the WGA strike, I've been walking the picket line at Universal Studios with the woman who takes care of me. I don't go as often as she does, mostly because she gets up at 4:30AM(!!!!) to walk the 6AM shift. But they gave me a t-shirt to wear. It's a little large, but I'm hoping the woman who takes care of me will make it work.

Although I was slacking on my blogging, I must be doing something right. Maria from Franklin Avenue mentioned my blog on her Thursday Three Downtown Edition, writing that I was probably the most handsome dog she's ever seen and obviously very smart. Or something very much like that. Details.

I did manage to make it out to the December Downtown Dog Walk last night. Had such a great time. We walked from Pershing Square to the Nokia Theater in South Park. I wasn't tired at all! Ruby and Joe came out, so did Isis and Eric, and of course Dodger, Aggie, and Ken. I made some new friends, got to know others better (hi Zilla!), and explored a new neighborhood. I think these dog walks are getting better and better all the time. I can hardly wait for next month's dogwalk!

I'll be out on the town again tonight. We don't picket tomorrow, so I will be enjoying myself at the monthly Yappy Hour at The LoftyDog tonight. It coincides with the monthly Downtown Artwalk, which is very cool. Tonight is extra special since The LoftyDog is also having a Holiday Paw-ty and we're picking up copies of my pictures with Santa Claus. Santa will be there again tonight for those who didn't get to see Santa last week. Since I've already posed for pictures, I'm going to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what I want for Christmas. Ever since I found out they don't like it when I chew up their slippers, I've been really good. Now I only chew on shoelaces.

(BTW, they don't think I know this, but the guy in the Santa suit isn't really Santa. I got up close and smelled him really good and licked him a few times to make sure, but and I knew right away who it really was.)

resting up for a downtown dog walk

wonton in a basket

Tomorrow is the monthly Downtown Dog Walk at Pershing Square, hosted by my friends Dodger and his sister Aggie. I had such a blast at last month's dog walk, I met all these great dogs that live downtown. There were approximately a dozen dogs, their owners and other dog lovers, and we all walked from Pershing Square to Maguire Gardens at the Central Library. Once there, we ran up and down steps and around the garden - one of us even jumped in the fountain to cool off! I was really tired after that dog walk, so I'm resting up now.

This month's dog walk, we will be joined by the LAPD's Officer Duarte, the Senior Lead Officer for the LAPD patrol district that covers Pershing Square and the adjacent areas. I've got a few questions for Officer Duarte, specifically, what do I do when I walk down the street and see a pit bull on a leash, snarling and snapping, barely being restrained by his/her owner? Happened to me the other night, scared the bejeezus out of me. So bring your questions for Officer Duarte (and an extra dog treat for me), and I'll see you at the Downtown Dog Walk!
